Hey —

New post is live and this one is personal.

My parents had a fire in my childhood home that started at the dryer in the basement. They got the fire department there before it became catastrophic — but the fire, smoke, and water damage still put them out of the house for a full year while it was rebuilt.

Nobody in my family runs the dryer while they're away from home or asleep. I sure don't.

That story is in the new post along with everything else I've built around fire preparedness — the prevention habits, the suppression gear, and the specific evacuation plan my family would actually execute at 2am.

Including the part where I'd zip my daughter into a duffel bag and lower her out a window by rope. If you haven't been paying attention to the tone of these posts, that sentence probably sounds extreme. If you have — you already know that's exactly the kind of thinking that belongs here.

Talk soon,

Sean
